Storyline
A spy (the viewer) goes on a spy mission to steal the Mona Lisa from the Louvre in Paris, France. Listening to a series of prompts from the mission coordinator, the viewer follows the Heads Up Display (HUD) in front of them to complete the mission. Ultimately, the viewer cannot complete their mission due to a technology malfunction.
The Objective
Incorporate various techniques such as keyframes, animation principles along with video, type and illustration to create a Heads Up Display (HUD). Develop a concept through research, storyboards and animatics and understand how to convey a message through illustration, type, information, video, and color.
Research & Inspiration
Once given the prompt for the project, I knew I wanted to follow action filled storyline. I decided on a futuristic feel because when I thought of HUD I thought of a spaceship or mission of some sort. Using my trip to Paris, France as inspiration I created a storyline. With the futuristic aesthetic in mind I chose a cool color palette and found a type face called Aviano Future. I researched audios of futuristic sounds and found a robotic voice that would speak what I wrote. I wrote a script to type for the robotic voice and used that in my audio as well. With the idea, mood board, and audio in mind, I created a story board and animatic before creating the final video.
